From wandering through medieval Dinan, cycling peaceful towpaths along the Canal d’Ille-et-Rance and discovering hidden Breton villages, to coastal adventures, family-friendly activities and must-visit beaches, every suggestion comes from real days out that we’ve loved.
Each itinerary is easy to reach from our riverside holiday home and offers something different, whether you prefer exploring on foot, by bike, by car, or even by boat. We hope these ideas inspire you to plan unforgettable experiences and discover the magic of Brittany at your own pace.

January 2026
This was one of those days that just flowed. We took the car and had a day out with our friends, who had never been to Rennes. We headed off with a loose plan: market, lunch, wander. The weather was classic January with sunshine, showers and dramatic skies, but we were lucky and caught more sun than rain, which always feels like a small victory at this time of year.

If you are planning a golfing holiday in Brittany and want somewhere peaceful, characterful and well placed for exploring several courses, Quai du Val is a good fit. Many of our guests travel from the UK and Ireland and Brittany often appeals because it feels both familiar and refreshingly different. Enjoy coastal golf with quieter fairways, good food and a slower pace.

January 2026
The first Sunday of 2026 and the first brocante of the year in Dinard, it felt exactly like it should; cold, wintry and completely unpredictable. One-minute bright blue skies and a hint of optimism, the next icy sleet rattling down and making you pull your scarf a bit tighter. Then the sun would pop back out again as if to apologise. Gloves on, gloves off. Hood up, hood down. A proper winter day by the coast.

November 2025
It’s mid-November, yet the air feels more like late September, 19°C inland and a gentle 17°C at the coast. The sun is shining, the sky a flawless blue and suddenly, work can wait. On days like this, it would be a shame not to make the most of Brittany’s unexpected warmth and light. We set off for St Jacut de la Mer, one of the Emerald Coast’s most enchanting peninsulas.

Just a 40-minute countryside drive from Quai du Val in Léhon, the hill-top village of Bécherel is a peaceful paradise for book lovers, history enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys slow travel and timeless charm. The journey itself feels like part of the experience, winding through sleepy Breton hamlets and rolling fields before arriving at this characterful little town perched above the valley.
