Although Dinan lies inland on the River Rance, the sea is never far away. Within half an hour’s drive you’ll reach some of Brittany’s most beautiful beaches, from the vast golden sands of Saint-Malo and Saint-Cast-le-Guildo to the sheltered coves of Dinard, Saint-Lunaire and Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer. We’ve highlighted a few of our favourite beaches below, but there are many more to discover - you’ll also find links to trusted local guides for a complete list of options along the coast.

This stretch of the Emerald Coast (Côte d’Émeraude) is known for its clear water, dramatic tides and ever-changing light. Whether you’re after a family day of swimming and sandcastles, a romantic coastal walk, or a quiet spot to watch the sunset, the beaches around Dinan offer something for every mood and season.

Tides matter on this coast!
At high tide some beaches shrink dramatically; at low tide they’re vast and perfect for shellfishing. Check the day’s tide table and coefficients.

Parking
Seafront parking is often chargeable; allow extra time in peak season. Some smaller coves have limited spaces or gravel car parks. Arrive early!

Lifeguards
Many main beaches are supervised in July–August (and on some spring weekends). Look for the posted flags.

Dogs
Rules vary by commune. In general, dogs are restricted on main beaches in summer but more flexible off-season and on wilder coves.
